Abstract
This study is to investigate the effect of Music-Assisted Progressive Muscle Relaxation(MPMR) on improving fatigue, stress relief, and emotion regulation of mothers with early adolescent children. A total of 92 mothers were participated in this study and randomly assigned to two groups. The experimental group was instructed to perform linguistic instruction with relaxation music, while the control group was given only the linguistic instruction. In both groups, NRS, multi-dimensional fatigue scale, stress response inventory, and adult emotional quotient test were repeatedly measured. The mixed linear models were used for analyses using SPSS for Windows 23. The conclusions drawn from this study are as follows. First, the experiment and control groups showed different patterns in the fatigue scores(GFI). Second, the fatigue scores measured immediately after the experiment on NRS were different. Third, the change in stress response scores did not differ between the two groups but the experimental group showed larger changes in the scores than the control group¡¯. Fourth, the change in the emotional regulation ability scores did not differ between the two groups. However, unlike the control group, the pre-post change was statistically significant in the experimental group. Therefore, this study contributed to providing the basis for effective use of the MPMR method for mothers who have early adolescent children to relieve fatigue, stress and to enhance emotion regulation.
